I found this story and Mandela writing quite hypnotic. The time travel aspect was interesting but far more compelling was the exploration of reality, existence, relationships.

If it did not drag on for the majority of the book, the ending would have given it 3-4 stars ...

Nice but underwhelming read. Prose and character work were beautifully done, but its themes felt a bit shallowly wrought — could’ve benefited from significantly deeper exploration. Overall this was a pleasant reading experience with predictable turns.

I enjoyed this! The writing is good as ever, and the characters were more enjoyable than in The Glass Hotel. Occasionally the course of events was predictable, but that's probably fine; the way things turn out in the end was both surprising and wrapped things up nicely.
