This book is one of the best additions to the Star Wars canon! It follows two best friends whose planet was put under the control of the Empire right after the overtaking of the Republic. They are raised to trust in & die for the Emperor & his goals. Together, they train to become Imperial officers & make their way up the ranks until the destruction of Alderaan splits their path. This book follows the timeline of the original trilogy & gives a new perspective to those who were told that the Empire's way was the right way. With unique insight into the dark side, this book is a must-read for Star Wars fans.

“Look through my eyes...”

“Nobody ever knows the whole truth. That’s why promises mean something. Otherwise they’d be too easy, don’t you see? We look toward the unknown future and promise to be faithful no matter what comes.”

This book was something special. I had heard a lot of good things about this story, but nothing could have prepared me for its quality. Although romance isn't my favorite genre, I managed to be completely invested in this story featuring two characters who aren't particularly important to the Star Wars universe but are nonetheless extremely interesting. Not only did it allow me to see the classic trilogy from a completely different perspective, focusing on the "extras" who appear in the background, but it also enriched the story that I thought I already knew so well.

As for the audiobook, as usual with Star Wars books, the production is incredible, with the soundtracks and sound effects that we know so well, enriching the experience greatly. Congratulations also to narrator Pierce Cravens, who managed to interpret the voices of our characters very well.

Reading Lost Stars was like reading poetry, evoking all kinds of emotions. Anyone can enjoy this story, whether they are fans of the universe or not. It may be one of the best stories, not just in Star Wars universe, but in general, that I have ever experienced.

Thank you, Claudia Gray, for Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell.

So damn good--a perfect combination of space opera action/adventure and intense star-crossed romance. (Hit me right in my Starbuck/BSG feels!)

I also really enjoyed how these stories dove tailed with episodes 4-7, showing different perspectives and events within the larger Star Wars universe and timeline. It is so delightful to read something from an author whose fannish appreciation is as deep/deeper than your own.
