Herzog has endless wild stories and a compelling philosophy. My only complaint is a general lack of organization but many valuable ideas in isolation.

The last four chapters were by far the best. The audacity Herzog has to say he doesn’t dream when reading this book before bed gave me crazy dreams for weeks.

The most interesting man who has ever lived. Incredible stories

At one point late in the book, Herzog says that he has no idea what he looks like. This seems a very unlikely thing, and also a rather odd thing to say in a memoir. And this is not his first memoir, as he explains in this one, leading me to believe that he at least reflects upon himself, even if he won't look at his image in a mirror. Herzog is not your average bear, as quickly becomes clear. I can't possibly re-tell any of his stories, because they're so outlandish that no one would believe them. But somehow when he tells them they are credible, because he's almost naively transparent about himself. And of course there is the added benefit of the fact that they're documented, as that is his job, and what he documents is frequently no less interesting than himself.
