Ohhh to have a queer Irish book written by a poet.
Lovely winter read.
A bit meandering but beautiful
Lovely winter read.
A bit meandering but beautiful
There was some beautiful writing in this and it really made me want to read this author’s poetry. However the story overall was just very okay for me. It got a bit boring at times.
caught my eye @ pages
goes through lots about desire and desperation and also... loneliness and isolation... and growing up and being selfish and guilt and hurting your parents and loneliness...!!! and love of course but quite heartbreaking
the prose is gorgeous and the setting is so well written and the portrayal of being gay in the early 2000s in a tiny town... wow... sean hewitt im going to trinity college to for ur brain
5/5 was absolutely inconsolable for the 2nd half. everyone is so lonely and it's devastating!!

anyway. eddie made me sad. i think… this is more a meditation on love… than anything else… but yes. his yearning is quenched but not very hopefully. i hope he does find life and love regardless. i also go crazy over the most subtle acknowledgements from people i like!
