Midnight in Death

2.5 stars. Iโ€™m just not a novella person. I usually find the plot to be too condensed and hurried. Midnight In Death is no exception.

Every one of these I read is my new favorite. My only complaint is that itโ€™s not a full length book! I hope she does a flashback to his original case

A very nice short-story which happens right after Book 7 with the unwrapping of Christmas gifts (which I missed a bit in the previous book) and the return of an old acquaintance, a totally-crazy killer that Eve believed to have been locked up for good ...

Ahh the In Death series. Truly, not a literary classic by any means. Midnight in Death reunites us with Eve and Roarke in yet another adventure. A rather creepy storyline of a Santa Claus serial killer which makes me certain that I will NEVER open the door to a HoHoHo-ing Santa Claus bearing gifts. If you've stuck with the first 7 books, you'll enjoy this.
dark emotional fast-paced

A quick novella that continues straight in after book 7. A madman that Eve put away has escaped and everyone who put him there are his targets. Eve races to find him before he completes his list with her.

A great read in between books and for a short book it still felt completed.

Great to have the team all together with them all concerned with Eve being on the list.

This novella picks up right where [b:Holiday in Death|238125|Holiday in Death (In Death, #7)|J.D. Eve and the team have to hunt down an escaped convict that has an ax to grind against those who put him in jail. Even though this was a short read, it still felt like a full-length book. I love that Roarke plays such an active part in each case.

"You leave here every day to do a job that puts you in constant physical jeopardy. I don't ask you to change that. It's one of the reasons I fell in love with you. Who you are, what you do, why you do it. I don't ask you to change. Don't you ask me. "

OK but almost 4 years ago I read/skimmed this baby, and lemme just say, it hits different when you actually read the series in order, know the characters /relationships

the weird fighting/sexy times was still present and still just as weird as I remembered lmao, but idc I loooove Everoarke, and I loved that it picked up right where bk7 left off, I was so annoyed when bk7 just ended and we didn't even get to see eve give roarke his present, nor what she got and this lil baby def helped sooth some of my feathers

A fun little novella! I enjoyed this one!

4 Stars

The story continues with Eve hot off a case that leaves Peabody indisposed so Roarke signs himself up as her deputy. David Palmer a sadistic killer has escaped prison and is going to kill everyone who had a hand in putting him away. As Eve races to recapture Palmer she is reminded of her past and those that love her in the present.

I perfect story - while I would have liked more background and chasing about i think this novella has the right amount of story and satisfying ending. It is less of a marketing tool (ie cliffhanger prequel that makes you buy the next one in order to know what happens) and more of an appreciative gift for fans. This tides you over (momentarily) until the next Eve Dallas book!
