This was a fine little addition to the In Death series. I didn't like it as much because, due to space constraints, the novella focuses on the action rather than giving us much character growth or world building information. It veered into too violent for me, largely due to the sadism of the villain.

not my favorite.. but then her short stories never are. I feel like she skimps on the plot. like one minute we are going along with a full description and then BAM we jump ahead 4 chapters b'c it is a short story.... maybe more noticeable when they are audiobooks. I keep going back a chapter to see if I missed something. nope. just not there.
