Midnight in Death

A murderer has reappeared to harass Eve Dallas right after the events of Holiday in Death. This novella is a great, quick read and its really impressive that the regular sized books dont feel like filler.
David Palmer tortures people to death for science which is a creepy motivation enough but when he targets people Eve cares about all bets are off.

Absolutely loved this short story from J D Robb. It was quick, full of action, maybe a little predictable but so enjoyable.

So just after Eve saves Peabody from a killer,a body of a judge is found. Eve knows straight away that it was David, a person who she put away before. He has escaped jail and is after revenge on the people who put him there. Firstly the judge and then the assistant prosecutor are found dead. There is a list of 6 names including Mira and Eve. All the names on the list are put into protected custody but David still managed to get to another one. 3 dead bodies so who will be next. Eve thinks he will go for somebody she cares about like Roarke. While eve is trying to protect Roarke, Dave does strike again but it isn't Roarke who is the target it is Mira. Eve works out where he is holding Mira hostage. He purchased his parents old property and is due to met David there for a new years party. Eve convinces David to let Mira out of the cage he is keeping her in and put Eve in the cage. That is when her plan comes into action and David is killed in a struggle with Eve. Mira is shaken but otherwise unharmed. Eve then gets her Christmas Present of a night with Roarke of her choosing, At their home.

Easy reading, fast, straight to the point, a good thriller even if we know from the beginning who is the bad guy.

Facile e veloce questa storia breve, che mi é piaciuta anche se sappiamo sin da subito chi é il cattivo.

A very quick read and therefore not as satisfying as the rest of this series.

A wonderful fast-paced quick read.

The ones with torture are not my favorites. In this Palmer a previous serial torturer and murder that Dallas caught before has escaped and is targeting those who put him behind bars.

I gave a novella 5 stars? I don't like novellas. But I did like this one very much. After reading "Holiday in Death" (book #7) I was left with..."But what did Rourke give Eve for Christmas?" I got my answer here, plus a nicely paced, nicely written suspense story.

A nice little taste of Roarke & Eve between books
