Synopsis: This book follows Clementine (Emmy) Ryder who returns to her hometown Meadowlark, Wyoming after making a name for herself by riding horses; her favorite thing to do. After a close call with a riding incident, Emmy is forced to return home. Growing up Emmy was surrounded by her older brothers including an unofficially adopted brother Luke Brooks. Brooks also known as Meadowlark's bad boy has known Emmy for most of her life. Noticing Emmy as a woman for the first time Luke starts to feel guilty as he starts to fall for his best friend's little sister.
I typically don't like Slow Burns. While the book was slow it was still enjoyable. What I enjoyed most was Teddy and Emmy's relationship. Teddy was so supportive and understanding of Emmy's needs. I found comfort in their ability to communicate without really speaking. Emmy and Luke's chemistry felt natural, and I loved seeing it grow throughout the book. Some of the spicy scenes felt awkward to me maybe it was the language during it. Emmy's brother August was extremely protective, but to the point it felt overbearing. If it was up to August he would want her to be single for the rest of her life. Overall I did love both Emmy's and Luke's background story. And who doesn't love a Cowboy?
