I've been bitten by the cowboy romance bug!! God, this was just so cute. It checked so many of my boxes and the relationship at the center felt really believable. Also the smutty scenes made my eyes bug out like a cartoon character. Also can we talk about this cover? obsessed. Will definitely be reading more from this author.

I LOVE THIS STORY!! I haven’t had a book that made me giggle, kick my feet, squeal, and blush in such a long time. Luke is the best book boyfriend I’ve seen such a respectful man and Emmy I adored her (despite our different opinions on the name Clementine) and best of all, this book has no third breakup. The big issue is Gus being related to Emmy and Luke not wanting to lose his friendship with Gus and I enjoyed it when Emmy finally kissed Luke (on the lips) after she won her last barrel racing. To me it felt like those cute, fluffy Mexican soap operas I used to watch as a kid. The story was also intriguing in my opinion seeing as Emmy got injured during her last barrel racing and got traumatized by it. And thanks to Luke being a handsome gentleman, he helped her get back on the horse. And the tension between those two 😏 but I would’ve liked if there was more things happening in the middle but I’m fine with it as Luke and Emmy’s relationship blossomed more during the middle part.

The sex scenes did surprise me for my first cowboy romance. I thought it would be all cutesy and passionate but Luke has a dirty mouth. I kept screaming in my pillow during those scenes. And the whiskey part OH MY GOD. I’m not interested in liquor but if it came from Luke’s mouth I wouldn’t mind.

Overall one of my favorites of this year and can’t wait for the next book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I opened this book...

I didn't expect to polish it off in one sitting!

I loved Emmy so much and could relate to her in a lot of ways, especially as an adult woman with ADHD. The line about being able to sleep through an apocalypse was SO real. And the way she always snoozed her alarms, to her own detriment? OOOOF. There was also the line, "It was just easier for me to retreat into my head than anything else." that hit me like a freight train - I've said this my whole life.

On the other hand, I could relate to Brooks as well. Never has a line in a book made me feel more seen than, "That, and being the kid from the trailer park, didn’t really impress my peers. Kids could be brutal." I immediately wanted to wrap him in the biggest hug and never let go.

When he was the only one that could help her through her anxiety and get her literally back in the saddle, I knew she was a goner. There was no way they were going to fight this at all.

There were only a few things that I felt fell flat.
1- I didn't feel like Emmy was as close to her brothers as you're supposed to believe. She seems to only really enjoy being around her father, her niece, and sometimes Wes. I didn't get the sense of a bond between Emmy and Gus at all, really.
2- There was a throwaway line about the ex boyfriend texting and how Emmy would need to confront that eventually, but it just never happened. I do, however, realize it probably wouldn't have added much to the plot. It was just something I noticed.
3- I didn't like that Brooks and Gus still had a strained relationship by the end. If Gus loved Emmy so much, he should be happy that she found someone who loved and supported her the way Brooks did, and he should have been able to tell that she was happier with him. I don't understand why he continued to hold a grudge against Brooks.

Overall, this book was an easy five star read for me. I ate up every second of it and have already recommended it to the people I know will appreciate it as much as I do!

This was such a fun, quick read! Emmy and Luke are so cute together and I adored their chemistry. I liked the storyline too, with career changes and small-town vibes. I I enjoyed the mental health representation when we see Emmy's struggle with panic attacks. I also loved Emmy's family and how they took Luke in from such a young age. This didn't quite hit five stars for me because I wanted a little more background on Luke's upbringing and Emmy's riding competition history. It also felt a little too insta-lovey and easy... they've known each other almost their whole lives and all of a sudden Emmy is "hot" and you realize she's been under your nose the whole time? A lil sus to me... But overall I liked it and recommend! I can't wait to read Wes and Ada's story next (comes out in October!)
