Dessa is a traveling acrobat who is on the lookout for her twin brother. He was taken years ago and it's her mission to be reunited with her family. She mistakes a stranger for the kidnapper and ruins the traveling circus show. The boss sends her out to find food and money to make up for the lost of profit. Her co-workers help her out, but also land everyone into more trouble.

Chantler doesn't fill the pages with needless conversation or sound effects. He lets the art speak for itself. His series will appeal to elementary and middle school children. Especially if they enjoy adventure during the medieval period. I look forward to the next book in the Three Thieves series.

Reviewed from a library copy.

Dessa is a tightrope walker in a medieval setting, traveling with the circus to find her twin brother. The circus, though, is filled with a variety of thieves who involve Dessa in various forms of deceit and danger. The brief pages convey more emotion and character than many of the full length novels I have read recently, and though it feels like a complete story, it ends with a cliffhanger that most definitely leaves me ready to pick up the next book in the series.

Fun, fast, clean graphic novel with a girl protagonist.

This is a fantastic adventure series with a strong female main character who is both brainy and able to climb castle walls and fall with grace. She is accompanied by two misfits who have their moments as well.
She is driven by the search for her twin brother and her foe is the man who kidnapped her twin and is the advisor to the evil queen.
The art is clear and text easy to follow with much humorous banter.

I find the art a little annoying (particularly the human faces), but the story is terrific!

Really 3.5 stars. It’s definitely the start to a series, leaving many loose ends. I’ll certainly be reading the next one!

A nice comic that's easy enough for my second grader to read with me. (Him reading at times, me reading at other times.) Apparently started as a web comic! Nice job Mr. Chantler. We'll be getting the next two.

Totally fun [b:Tintin|87425|Tintin in Tibet|Hergé|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327958643s/87425.jpg|885675]esque adventure. Dessa is a very androgynous-looking heroine who rides into town with a traveling circus. One of her co-performers, a blue goblinish character, convinces Dessa and a large purple giantish character to help stage a heist of the queen's tower of treasure. There are booby traps involved. It is fun. Full color, which is extra awesome.
