Moving on from the Fancy Hunger Games, we have now moved into the war. Our boy Red lives to fight. He no longer has love. He feels the guilt of secrets. He's very angsty. Did I enjoy it? Yup. Did I cry? Double-yep.
On the plus side, it's a dude who deals with the white savior situation. Instead of a 19-year-old blonde female, it's a 22-year-old blond male (well golden, but let's be real). Our boy gets in good with his enemy, then get's out of favor with him, then back in.
Our angsty boy is stabbed in the back due to his secrets. Dear Red is in a pickle. On to Morning Star

this book absolutely crushed my soul in a meat grinder. i couldn’t even write a review because i was so upset. but that says a lot about the connection you grow with the characters throughout the book and how much you care for their victories. i will say that the major plot points in this book were the best part about it, they made you feel so awesome for your favorite characters. however the last like 1-2 pages absolutely destroyed my mind. i would have rated it 5 stars if i was not so distraught by the ending. i am hoping that morning star will bring my passion back that i had through reading the entire rest of the book.

I have conflicting feelings about this book. The beginning - amazing, the ending even more so. But the middle part was just so very meh. I had difficulty focusing on the book and found myself skimming more and more lines in the middle. But then the ending was so amazing that I know I HAVE to read the sequel. I think my high expectations in combination with me being stressed kind of sabotaged this book, but for now it’s sadly only a 3 star rating from me.
