Not as good as the Roommate but still pretty good! The love interest being a progressive rabbi was awesome and added a new perspective to the usual romance formula which I liked! As with The Roommate, it kinda bugs me that these have revolved around porn stars (awesome) but who both have kind of recently “retired” in one form or another when they’re entering romantic relationships. Like what I think would be a very interesting and fun detail to navigate with a new partner is just removed from the picture! Kind of sends the message that sex workers can’t have loving and fulfilling romantic relationships until they stop having sex with other people. Must everything be full stop strict monogamy ?
The end third kind of filled up with long, overly sincere speeches which is NOT my thing I gotta say.
Still recommend to my friends :)

I read this after loving the show Nobody Wants This and while not the same, it was veryyyy similar which I liked.

We still love a sex positive storyline hidden behind a cartoon cover, especially one that once again tackled uncomfortable conversations, and an unconventional coupling between a Rabbi and a former sex worker turned sex educator. The storyline was great and the author did a wonderful job of tackling hard conversations (organized religion in a modern day society, stigma surrounding sex work etc.) throughout the book, I just didn’t feel as connected to Naomi and Ethan as I did Clara and Josh in the prequel. Which isn’t a bad thing as I still thoroughly enjoyed this read and the many messages it contained.

I really enjoyed this one! It centered strongly around the MCs Jewish faith and I really appreciated how the faith based discussions were handled as a member outside the community who is generally not religious. I feel like in addition to it being a beautiful lovestory, I was able to learn more about the faith. Naomi's background as a sex worker and the struggles she's felt as an outsider gave her a great character growth arc and I loved Ethan's science/faith focus and the discussions surrounding the similarities between the two.

Why did I read this when I didn't even like the first book? I don't know man, fomo is real. But I'm glad I did because I liked it so much more. Naomi is a way more fun protagonist and the stakes here felt so much more real. Fun (spicy!) read. Who would've thought a book about a rabbi could be sexy lol
