This was a lovely small town, slow burn romance. Caroline shows up in a wedding dress and with a lion cub. It’s the last thing that Zander wants for his small town, he is hyper-focused on protecting the town and everyone in it. He doesn’t need the distraction or danger being brought to his door. However, he can’t deny the pull he has towards Caroline, especially when she starts opening up and being herself. I loved the change we see in Zander, the realisation that he can allow himself to love and also be the protector. Caroline goes through changes too, and the more we find out about her, the more we love her. She isn’t at all what she seems. I loved the extended family that Zander has and being introduced to those with existing stories and those with stories to come. I will definitely be checking them out.

I struggled a little with the narration. I thought Desiree Ketchum was fantastic, and she really conveyed the strong yet vulnerability traits of the character perfectly. For James R. Cheatham, I felt there was lack of consistency with the accent, which was distracting and made it difficult to become fully immersed in his chapters. That being said, I did like his tone and he conveyed the characters emotions well.

Forget comfort food, Autre is my comfort place and it's great to be back!
Erin Nicholas has written two strong, caring, protective characters with huge warrior hearts.
I have loved Zander through the other books in the series. He gives the impression he is a grumpy yet laid back small town cop. And he is that but he is also a fierce protector of the people and town he loves *swoon* So when Caroline barrels into town and it's instant attraction he's not sure he can handle another loved one added to the list of people he needs to bubble wrap. His inner monologue, fighting his attraction, is hilarious.
While Caroline needs his help, she doesn't need protecting. She has put on a facade most of her life and it's how she has tried to right wrongs in her small part of the world, but this wrong is more than she can handle. With Zander she finds someone she trusts and feels safe enough to be her real self. This may be slow burn but the sparks are flying and when it burns it's red hot!
As always, this Autre story is full of big unconditional Landry love, laughs and Ellie wisdom.

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book and devoured it in a day and a half (and only because i HAD to feed people).
WOW.. Erin,, you delivered another swoon worthy hero!! Zander was amazingly HOT!!!! Caroline adorable. So glad to get to see these two.. The chemistry, the restraint, the understanding... (insert hearts here!!!)

the best part... my new favorite quote -- "Is that why you read romances?" "Yep. The world needs more happy stories, and there's nothing happier than love stories."

Thank you Erin! Loved the trip to the Bayou like always!!!
OH! and the new introductions of potential spin off characters KEEPING us at the Bayou!!!! (LOVE LOVE LOVE)

This is about Zander Landry and a rich gal who should be a “princess” attitude wise but she slid right into country gal with ease!

Caroline was a fun character to get to know! She knew how to put on a show and she learned fast how to be REAL also. The Landry CLAN helped her out there.

This audiobook was narrated by James R. Cheatham and Desiree Ketchum.

James is 100 percent new to me and he is not a favorite that will be repeated unless he does another of Erin’s Bayou books as he has a very good grasp of how to do the Nawlin’s DRAWWWWWLLLLL when it was called for. He sloped in and out of it with ease.

Desiree is already a fave and did an Amazing job bringing Caroline to life ❤️

I haven't listened to many of Erin's books but the ones I have I have really enjoyed.
This was pretty great. I love the small towns the love of animals how it's all integrated into the book. Everyone looks out for everyone else. Family is everything and this book highlights all of that.

Runaway bride Ellie isn't exactly as she seems, I gotta say I wasn't expecting the meet cute to be so funny. And Zander oh man he got hit over the head. That chemistry man it will get you every time.
You see how much Zander wants to become more, but he is holding himself back and as we learn why it is completely understandable.
When he opens up to Ellie about it, oh the tears. But it's just more it's how they need each other.
Incredible story and I just couldn't stop listening.
The ending all the feels all the hearts. Couldn't have been more perfect.

Great narration I wasn't familiar with James R. Cheatham and since we get a good majority of the book in his POV I really enjoyed it. Desiree Ketchum I am more familiar with and love her work.

Zander and Caroline are another great edition to the Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild series. Zander is the hot, broody cop that will do anything to protect his town and family. Caroline the spitfire heiress who uses her status for good. Together these two are perfect for each other. I loved how despite just meeting each other Caroline trusts him and Zander is so protective of her and they have great chemistry. These two have become on of my favorite couples. I love the town of Autre and it’s residents more and more with every visit. Another five star read from Erin!

Desiree Ketchum and James R. Cheatham narrate this book and did a wonderful job narrated this book. Desiree voice just fit Caroline’s personality so well and was perfect of the character. James was a new narrator to me and he brought out Zander’s broody attitude and did a great job voicing him. As an added bonus we get to hear Teddy Hamilton & Melissa Moran as Knox & Fiona in the epilogue and I can’t wait to read their story in Kiss My Giraffe. Thank you to Erin and her team for a review copy!!

I adore Zander & Caroline. Such a very fun premise (with an important cause under it -- do I recognize some callouts to the Tiger King nonsense?) Again, as always with Erin Nicholas - read the whole series, it will make everything make more sense (& be more fun!)
