I enjoyed this book a lot. Having read the Twilight Saga MANY times, this book wasn't exactly a page turner for me because I already knew what happened. However, it added so much more depth and perspective to the story that I've loved for so long - especially in the latter half. I really loved the ability to see things through Edward's eyes, or in many cases, others' minds through his haha.

Wow Edward.
I love reading his POV, love the way his thoughts are so complicated over Bella.

✨REVIEW✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️
After rereading the Twilight series a few years ago, it was clear that I wasn’t able to enjoy the books the same way when I was 16. Which is why I was a bit hesitant to pick up Midnight Sun. But I did it nonetheless and have no regrets.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually enjoyed listening to Edward’s side of the story. Edward’s ability to read minds is what makes this book different from its predecessors. It’s truly interesting to be able to listen to other people’s thoughts from his POV.
If I’m being honest, I found him to be a more likeable protagonist than Bella.
This book was a solid 3 stars for me, so if you’re in the market for some nostalgia, I recommend you pick up this book and let it take you back to Forks.
‼️Please educate yourself about the Quileute tribe when reading this series.
TW: ableism, racism & anti-Native language, misogyny, rape & paedophilia mentioned, suicidal ideation and suicide attempts mentioned, blood depiction & blood drinking, stalking, murder, animal death
8/60

I still don't know what to think... Firstly, I love a good romance, and secondly - I used to be a huge fan of Stephanie (and still am, I just haven't read her for a while). Now, despite loving the story and the ability to see it from a different perspective, I grew kind of annoyed at how 'unique' Bella was depicted. I get that Edward, really believed so and that he was completely biased, but still, I felt like her character lacked depth. It was almost as if most people (and girls) were all the same, while she was pure, selfless, completely different, absolutely unique!!!
To me, it also looked like Edward fell in love with her just because she was so different, which is not the best message to send. There's nothing wrong with being typical and like other people, let's embrace it.
So, even though I enjoyed reading Midnight Sun, Bella's character seemed cliché, Wattpad-like. But after all, it is probably where Wattpad took inspiration from :)
