I mean obviously I loved it but I think I liked the first one a bit more. I don’t know, I think maybe I was expecting it to be a bit more…grand I guess? I think i just wanted more drama. Yeah I just live for the drama and I feel like this book needed a bit more of it.

It took me a while to read this, though this is more a reflection of how busy I am at the moment and less of the quality of the story. Once I finally managed to pick it up for a decent length of time, I devoured it.

Ayla's journey towards accepting her feelings was so good and I loved how Varela didn't shy away from describing the physical desire Ayla and Crier have for each other. A lot of f/f books seem to shy away from that so it was really satisfying to read this (and the previous book).

I'm especially pleased that this book managed to knock down all the dominos of the last book without feeling too neat. Open endings are my favourite, so this was very satisfying to read.

i love crier and ayla so much, their development both separately and together was perfect and i think they are might be my new favorite fictional couple

Really good book, maybe even better than the the first one in the series, and that’s saying something. I really liked the way the character development was so tightly woven in with the plot and how it handled and resolved conflict without it adding unnecessary frustration for the reader. Got through it really fast! There is much diversity(mlnb for example) in the minor characters as well as the main wlw pairing, it paints the relationships in a very relatable way without making it to realistic, still being fantasy and all.

"it's you, the wash of starlight, the old paradox: if the universe were static, i could stand anywhere in this world and i swear my line of sight would end on you. i swear i'd find you in the dark."

this, right here, is one of my favourite duologies. i adore this series to the moon and back, not purely because it's sapphic and i feel seen in this absolutely gorgeous book about girls falling in love despite everything trying to get in their way, but because it's so beautifully written. i would read this series again and again and i would fall in love with ayla and crier again and again because they are just so loveable.

Very interesting and an amazing sequel to Criers war. Gets a bit slow halfway through as it’s very tense but the ending is perfect and I was so attached to the characters 😭 would definitely recommend to a friend but wouldn’t recommend reading it at the same time as another book as it throws a lot of information at you to process,as a fantasy would lol 🤥
