Love the "big idea" behind this book, and it's mostly well-executed, though some of the plot points (particularly the resolution) don't get any build-up at all. And Millar is laughably weak when it comes to dialogue, especially in the first half of the book, where he attempts to introduce characters this way (he gets his point across, but all the characters are made from the same artificial exposition machine).
At least these two major flaws don't weigh down the book at the same time (by the time the plot falls apart the dialogue has gotten better)!
Still, it's worth a read for any Superman fan. I finally picked it up because it's been cited as an inspiration for "Man of Steel."

It's been a long time since I read something with my eyes and even longer since I read something in Comic form. (I am usually an audiobook person)
However Superman Red Sun was a great time from cover to cover and is very different to anything I've read in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed the different take on how and why Superman does what he does and how even growing up in a vastly different atmosphere he retains his desire to be an uncompromising force of good. Even if he's fighting for a different side he's still wants the best for all people and will not relent in his service to mankind.
This will not be the last comic I read this year, but it was a great one to start with and has made me excited to see what other stories are out there to enjoy.

Exquisite story with very powerful social messages. Communism vs Capitalism, Superman vs Luthor; time loops. :D

Wow
Just wow. That was a very good and well thought out telling of if superman has ended up in a different place than Kansas. The art work was incredible and many families faced pop up through the run of the comic. Highly recommend to anyone.

Wow, so good!
An alternate reality where Superman lands in the USSR instead of the US makes for some pretty awesome character reshaping. We get a whole new Man of Steel and those closest to him all cast in a whole new light.
Millar created a whole new Superman world that is believable and compelling. He also gives the whole story an ending that was both completely surprising and the only one possible.
Loved it!

Where do I even start about Superman? I was hoping this book (a highly acclaimed Superman story) would change how I feel about him, but nope - he's still boring. How can there be an interesting story about a protagonist who is perfect? The premise is promising, but in the end it's shallow and the potential for serious consideration of politics and economy is wasted. Superman remains a dull, one-dimensional character regardless of the side he's on, and if other comic books are worse than this one, I think I'll pass.
I thought this alternative version of Superman - where he lands as a baby in a field in Ukraine, at the time part of the Soviet Union; grows up in a farm collective; and then devotes his superpowers to Communism instead of Democracy presents an interesting contrast to the traditional version of Superman. Lex Luthor is in the United States - both he and the country feels threatened by Superman. There's a lot going on as this story explores Superman's need to intervene and when does intervention take away free choice. There's also a long game going on between Luthor and Superman as I found this version of Luthor much more interesting than I've traditionally seen. My rating is 5 stars.
