I somehow both loved and hated this at the exact same time. The characters and storyline both needed some more development, and it got a little too dark sometimes, but it’s beautifully morally grey in a way that makes me actually question if I liked the characters or not. Decent but not great writing. Worth the read if you like dark romance and slow burn with many, many morally grey characters.

"Scarred" by Emily McIntire takes readers on a thrilling journey into the realm of dark romance. While it might not be considered a profound piece of literature, it delivers an engaging and steamy read that is perfect for those seeking a spicy and worthwhile escape.

From the moment I dove into the pages of "Scarred," I was immediately drawn into a world filled with intense emotions and tangled relationships. McIntire skillfully weaves a tale of passion, desire, and the complexities of love, creating a narrative that keeps you hooked until the very end.

The dark romance genre can be a tricky one to navigate, but McIntire manages to strike the right balance. The chemistry between the main characters crackles with tension, and the forbidden nature of their relationship adds an element of excitement and intrigue. It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions that leaves you both breathless and eager for more.

While the book may not reach the lofty heights of literary masterpieces, it doesn't even try to- nor does it need to. Instead, it offers an immersive and entertaining experience that is perfect for indulging in guilty pleasures. The steamy scenes are expertly crafted, leaving a lingering heat that will make your heart race.

One aspect that stood out to me in "Scarred" is the author's ability to create flawed and multi-dimensional characters. Each character possesses their own scars and vulnerabilities, adding depth to their interactions and evoking empathy from the reader. McIntire explores the complexities of human nature, showcasing that even in the darkest of circumstances, there is room for redemption and love.

While some may dismiss dark romance as mere escapism, "Scarred" proves that it can offer more than meets the eye. It's a reminder that even in the midst of passion and intensity, there can be growth, healing, and unexpected tenderness.

"Scarred" may not be a literary masterpiece, but it doesn't need to be. It delivers what it promises—a captivating and steamy dark romance that keeps you enthralled from start to finish. McIntire's ability to create compelling characters and intense chemistry adds depth to the story, making it a satisfying and enjoyable read for fans of the genre.

Please keep in mind that this review reflects my personal experience and impressions of the book. Other readers may have different opinions and interpretations. As always, it's important to explore multiple reviews and decide for yourself if "Scarred" is a steamy, spicy, journey you want to take.

Maybe dark romance just isn't my thing because this was... lacking? The story was eh but it gets three stars for the spicy scenes
