This was... Meh. Way darker than the first book to the series, Hooked. Obviously the spicy scenes are good, but the rest of it was kinda boring. Please read trigger warnings before picking up this book and honestly any book in this series.

It wasn’t based on a specific fairytale like the last one, of if it was I couldn’t place it. The dynamic between Sara and Tristan was red hot, ate it up. All the other characters felt like they needed more character development. Like the bad guys were evil for the sake of being evil.

Dark Romance, Enemies to Lovers, Dom/Sub dynamic, 3 1/2 🔥

This series is in the audible plus catalogue at the moment.

I much preferred Hooked (book number 1) but this was nonetheless a good audiobook. It’s a retelling twisted version of The Lion King, always fun when the villain you think you know becomes a sexy anti-hero.

I struggled to get into the flow of the story towards the beginning. By the end I was invested and glad I stuck with it.

I went into this not realizing that this book wouldn't be connected to Hooked so realizing it's set in the early 1900s really through me for a loop at first. Since I'm so used to reading fantasy and historical romance with royalty...my brain kept trying to thing this was much earlier in time than it was so when they'd mention guns/cameras/etc it took me a minute to remember when it was set.

There is just something about a man, who had a rough childhood, that believes he's this hard carefree person when in reality he does so many things that shows he cares...thats just *chefs kiss*

We also love a leading lady who takes no bullshit and is willing to do whatever it takes to avenge a wrong.

A fun read though doesn't feel like a book I'll reread over and over.
