I almost didn't read this because I'd seen a few crappy reviews but I'm really glad I ignored them.

I thought the characters were well explored and the relationships were really intriguing. It was interesting to see the characters build together and the love scenes were really passionate.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, although it was a relatively simple concept, there were a few parts that earned a chuckle or two and I found myself really liking the characters.

Besides, instead of one hot guy, there are 2 (for the most part) and 5 at the end! What more can you ask for?

Missing Something

I went into this book very excited because it was mentioned in The Editor's Corner at the end of Sawyer Bennett's Ryker. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.

From the beginning of Cass, Beau and Marian romance, I did not feel a connection to the characters. I felt like the story line dragged with no real depth to the characters and what made them who they were today. We know Marian had something bad happen in her past but you didn't get emotional twisting of the gut when it was revealed. Even the sex scenes were kind of blah.

I did enjoy the appearance of Tyler and Tom. Two very different guys with such great personalities. I would like to get to know these two characters a lot more. But I'm not sure I would purchase the next book in the series about Tyler.

Absolutely loved it!!!

This was a great story!! I fell in love with the characters...all of them!! I can't wait for more of the team I want to read them all now lol. The story flowed very smoothly and was written extremely well. This story is very hot and explicit, and very well done. I was drawn into this story from the beginning and never wanted to out it down, even when it was over. Ill definitely be buying the next in the series and be looking at more by this author.

Not as good as I expected it to be. But I had started to read it thinking it was a different author, so that might have been me.

This did not work for me at all. I wanted to give up time and again and finally pulled the trigger and DNFed at 67%. For a bonk fest the sexy times didn't seem all that titillating. I'm giving this 2 stars as I think a year ago I would have responded better to it. Now I know better and have read better.
I can't help thinking the best part of this book is the cover.

Thank you NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

DNF @ 21 %

I am so bored with this book. I just couldn't finish it. Not a fan of the author's writing style. I didn't care about the characters or the plot twist. Even the steamy parts. Nah. I guess this book is not for me.

I had high hopes for Broken Play. It started off great. I was asking around for a recommendation on a book about American football since we are visiting the US and I've been relegated to the status of "football widow" on Sunday nights when Steve's team is playing. I don't know much about football, so I have a million questions and I have to admit, cuddling in Steve's arms while he watches the game and answers my questions is kinda fun. I'm glad Steve put up with all my questions. What happened? Why did they do that? Was that bad? Who is that?

My observations? Dude! Those offensive linesmen are HUGE! I was saying to Steve that with all the sports romance, really the only footballer (unless they are soccer players!) I can think of to play a romance hero would be the quarterback. So what happens when I ask for recommendations? I get Broken Play and the heroes (plural!!) are offensive linesmen! Did I mention those guys are HUGE? You do not want to be a tiny 5 foot nothing little thing like me between them!

Anyhow, back to the book. It started off great. I was really enjoying the zing and sizzle between Cass and Beau, and their patient, gentle wooing of Marian. I really liked both Cass and Beau, and their different personalities, particularly what they meant to each other. I thoroughly enjoyed all the football talk and even gave myself a little pat on the back for understanding most of it. The story was engaging and well-written. I was looking forward to the guys finally getting Marian.

But then Marian had to ruin it for me with her issues and being a liar. Marian is a really twitchy heroine. She's got some serious issues from a previous experience, I'm assuming with another footballer and it's made her very nervous around football players. She's downright jumpy around them. On top of that, she's hiding something major and she's lying about it. Yeah, sorry but a lying anyone is a deal breaker for me. Even worse, with a lying heroine. It just doesn't work. I admit, it pushes a button for me and I'm rather unforgiving when there's deception in a book.

Marian, you killed the book for me. I hope you had fun with Cass and Beau along the way to your happy ending but I'm not hanging around to find out.
