To była niesamowicie przejmująca i głęboka historia pomimo swojej głównej tematyki o fasoli. Szczególnie zakonczenie skłoniło mnie do ogromnych refleksji nad celem naszej egzystencji i mimo, że nie myślałam o życiu w taki sposób jaki był przedstawiony tutaj, to wydaje mi się że po przeczytaniu tej przepięknej historii widzę życie w nieco innym świetle. Była to wspaniała, mimo że krótka lektura, którą zdecydowanie zapamiętam na długo.
4.5 ⭐️ this book was simple yet so so captivating in bringing out emotions in the reader. the writing was brilliant and the connections between the characters was so beautifully written and special. i’ve never had doriyaki before but after reading this book and the way it was described, i Need to try it!! just simply such a good book, would recommend lol!

I went into this book blind and was so pleasantly surprised by how much I truly liked it. The chapters were short and fast to read. I loveee book with short chapters!
I honestly didn’t expect how attached I would get to the characters. I cried several times and also learned so much about Hansen’s disease and its history in Japan. This book was truly a rollercoaster of emotions for me. From me being happy that Tokue got to work at the sweet bean paste place, to me trying to hold back tears in the bus when she talked about her experience as a patient in the sanatorium and how Isolated she felt.
Honestly I might even change my rating to 5 stars, this was truly a wonderful book and I would recommend everyone to read it.
