Very interesting and very moving. I sobbed my way through sections.

this book was absolutely phenomenal. it taught me the stark differences in practises surrounding death in the western part of the world vs many others. different cultures approach death differently. in the western world, it seems to be more of a taboo topic to approach, and burial / cremation are your main options. in other parts, e.g. sky burials (tibet) and nãtitas (bolivia) all intertwine culture, traditions, and religion into how they approach death. caitlin doughty has done an amazing job at broadening my mind about how different cultures approach death.

This is lwk a 3.5⭐️ but only because I wasn’t really in the mood for it.

A quick, transformative read

The anecdotes and ideas in this book will stay with me long after I finished the last page. It inspired me to want to learn more about death rituals and to work on my own relationship with emotions surrounding death. It also made me laugh! How unexpected and great.
