A really interesting look at the methods of dealing with the dead and the rituals that follow. I really enjoyed this book. I hope some of these become common practise. I’d love nothing more than returning to compost.

Ahhh a fascinating book! A few pages in I wanted to meet her, this book really felt like she was chatting with you about her experiences traveling rather than regurgitating cultural facts of varying nations.  Informational but conversational which kept it a relatively breezy read, even funny in moments, while still covering an intense topic. I wasn't expecting it, but this style/tactic makes sense because how else could she sway your knee jerk reaction towards such sensitive topics so damn quickly other than showing you how beautiful they can be? The slight downside is this left me curious for more hard history and facts (oh darn I have to read more).
Overall, it's a warm reminder to look up from our restrictive and often uncreative and unfulfilling habits and cultural practices and find comfort and inspiration in the massive diversity of options our species has practiced for ages. Humans are so cool!
Warning, this may make you want to dig up your great grandma to officially meet her or go get eaten by a bird when your time comes. lol
