I couldn’t put this book down! It was fast paced and intense- I loved every minute of it. I was truly sad when I finished, I wanted more. I hope there’s a sequel!

This book had me GRIPPED. First of all the love story of was blossoming quite nicely which is always a good thing for me. Then you start to hear about all these secrets and lies. What got me the most was the break in scene. Every time I thought it was about to end it would keep going which made me filled with so much angst. It had me thinking that is what it really feels like in the moment in real life. This writer is amazing. I felt so terrified the whole time. Absolutely dying to know the plot twist in the end. I was at the edge of my seat. Truly never even put the book down. I know I’ve said this about a thousand other times regarding other guys from books but Ryan Baker was special. He just was an awesome main character love interest. Truly such a good love story that really wasn’t even all about love. I instantly re read my favorite scenes immediately after this book was over. My only complaint is how I wanted a whole other book about more of it.

3.5 stars it started out so strong. The second part of the book was predictable. The characters needed more depth.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. This was a novel written for young adults, which I didn’t realize until after I had purchased it and started reading it. I had read both of Miranda’s adult novels previously. Even though I could tell immediately that this was a novel for young adults, I enjoyed it and thought it was well written. A quick, fun read.

The night was a covering of the darkest black, no moon to illuminate her path, no sound except her own breaths. She felt the danger lurking behind her, but couldn’t see who it was, nor did she know why they were here. She needed to get away, needed to escape… but she wasn’t sure she’d ever get out of their path.

The Safest Lies is a thriller following Kelsey who comes home one evening to find her mother missing. The alarm system is turned off, everything is unlocked, their fortress of a home isn’t safe anymore. Something is very wrong.

This was a fast paced thriller that had me turning pages quickly. Short chapters, anxiety-inducing scenarios, trapped in a house with no escape. It was entertaining and had me on the edge of my seat. Megan Miranda is one of my favorite authors, and once again she had me hooked.

If you’re a locked room thriller fan and love family secrets… then check this book out!

Actions starts on page 1 and never lets up. I read it in a single gulp on a Sunday afternoon. The starting premise: the mother was taken as a seventeen year old, missing for a year/held captive, escapes but is four months pregnant and the fear of being found again has her holed up in a safe house, homeschooling her daughter in chemistry and survival skills until she is forced to send her to school… and that’s when things start to fall apart.

A very intense story, pretty scary at times. 7th grade and up, maybe 8th and up because of the psychological thriller aspects. There is romance but nothing more than a kiss here and there.

I picked up this book because I had read 2 of Megan Miranda's psychological thrillers - All The Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger. This novel, The Safest Lies, is actually a TEEN book, as the main characters are teenagers.
Kelsey Thomas is used to living in a fortress. Her mother, Amanda, is agoraphobic because Amanda was kidnapped when she was 17. When Kelsey is in a car accident, things begin to change. Kelsey becomes involved with Ryan, a volunteer firefighter and student at her school, when he helps to rescue her. Kelsey takes a chance, and because of that chance, her home is no longer safe.
Kelsey needs to rely on survival instincts that her mother has taught her over the years. Some of it is a bit fantastic, but it keeps the story moving at a breakneck pace.
I enjoyed this, and I may check out some of Megan Miranda's earlier works as well as keeping up with her latest offerings.
