Holy shit!!! SO GOOD. Was completely obsessed with Xaden by chapter 11. Loved how the world building was done. It wasn’t too info dumpy which can be hard to do in a debut novel. I didn’t cry during this book  so it wasn’t a full 5 stars but I’ll probably end up balling in the next one. So ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I hated this book. It was essentially a modge podge of every popular ya fantasy but they cussed and there were explicit scenes.

I really wanted to dislike this book. Rebecca Yarros has made some… questionable choices in her writing and her public presence, but when a coworker lent me the book I figured I might as well see if the hype was worth it. And yeah, her writing can be lazy and the romance made my skin crawl at times, but DAMN. This book pulled me IN. It really reminded me of the fantasy I loved so much in middle school but written for me as a 20-something. I mean, the Divergent parallels are so strong. But there are things that I think Yarros did well. I loved how she included a disabled main character and didn’t have magic just, cure her (bonus points for including a Deaf/Hard of Hearing character!). There is queer representation (albeit mostly in background characters) without being weird. And as I reached the latter part of the book I felt that the story became more unique. I’ll be diving into the second installment with relish, but I’ve still got my eye on you, Rebecca.

Älskar själva boken, drakarna, upplägget och the tension mellan vi och xaden men de har gjorts flera gånger dehär med att en av de ljuger för varan. Man måste läsa raderna över början på varje kapitel och förstå de för annars blir det svårt att förstå vad det är som händer i kapitlet. Så fkn taggad på iron flame

If the plot was the main focus of the book, my rating would probably be a lot higher. But seeing as how most of the focus is on the romance, it is far lower. It's giving wattpad self insert that also happens to have dragons. Will not read the next book.
