Loved this. Highly recommend if you’re currently raising a kid, want to someday raise a kid, or have kids in your life.

I liked the overall tone of this book. I think it had a lot of good ideas that were helpful and well laid out, but I do think it is a bit rigid in its advice. It is always nice to encounter a parenting book that isn't written primarily for mothers, but there was a surprising lack of mention of neurotypical or other special needs kids (or adults).

I wish there were more tips and examples for teenagers

The most empowering parenting book I have ever read. Also, full of amazing mental health and human interaction strategies for anyone. I cannot wait for her future releases.

Solid parenting book that aligns with my own philosophy/style but I do wish there were scripts for older kids. Most of this skews younger. Would be great to have a follow up for older kids/teens or at least a chapter with scripts for older kids especially because it’s stated many times that it’s never too late to change your approach.

Absolutely fantastic. Her philosophy feels right in my soul, and is presented without any judgment or shame for previous parenting behavior: everyone is good inside, and deserves empathy. What is the most generous interpretation of your kid's behavior? How can you connect and build relationship with them so they can grow securely, sure of you and themselves?

Finally finished my reread. This is the ultimate parenting book. Dr. Becky has the perfect combination of research & psychology with ACTUAL practical advice & scripts to use in the moment. This book is full of strategies to increase connection with your kids, as well as strategies to respond to a number of difficult behaviors. I’ll definitely reread again, or at least read certain chapters again.

I enjoyed the use of examples throughout the book and how Dr Becky would come back to them to wrap up the beginning and end of a chapter. It helped the messaging to stick. Very well done.
