I'm still figuring out how I feel about this--there's a decent amount of what my husband calls "nice white psychologist advice" re: gentle parenting, and it mostly made me want to reread Hunt, Gather, Parent--but I appreciate her reiterating that feelings are just that (feelings) and aren't indicative of the morality of a child. There are also some helpful mantras that reinforce that tough stages, too, shall end.

A long read mainly because it takes a lot of effort and reflection to consider all of the different aspects provided. Finally, what I’ve been looking for in a parenting book. So many parenting books talk about the child and what the psychology or development is on the child’s level, all of which have been very informative, but this book talks to the parent about what’s going on in the parent’s mind/body as they interact with their child. It is a self help book for parents who need a nudge to try something different. A practical read, split up into easy to digest examples and scenarios, full of mantras and strategies to try. Will definitely come back to it again and again for reminders and refreshers as new things come up or change.
Arguably the best parenting book I’ve ever read
