The first thing I thought after finishing this book is : finally it’s over.

The concept of the book could’ve been really cool, however it was badly executed, I hated the writing and the characters were absolutely not likable, if I felt tenderness or love toward the characters it would’ve worked, sadly I hated most of them and didn’t care of what would happen to them.

The main character was so annoying and boring, I must admit that her life was hard with her accident and all, but I found her really selfish, she was acting like, since she’s hurting more than the others they don’t have the right to feel bad about anything.

The romance was SO plain, I didn’t felt any chemistry.

Still, I have to admit that the plot twist was cool, not impactful because as I said, I wasn’t attached to the characters, but the end was too long, it would’ve been better if it stopped a few pages after the plot twist reveal. Honestly the plot twist is what got the book to 2.5 stars and not only 2.

So the whole thing about her losing her memory because of how traumatizing it was, was great and realistic, the fact that they burned the house was a cool thing too, but if you think about it they were kinda dumb about it, why starting the fire before going out ? Why didn’t they spoke about that ? Why did she started the fire with them still inside the house ?

I didn’t understood those things, and once again as I already said, the characters weren’t lovable and that’s the main thing that made me hate it.

Also the little stories were cool at first, but there were too many of them it was becoming annoying.

Found it hard to empathise and relate to any of the characters. It was only in the last part that the story came together and I could piece things together, which is why it upped a star, but I usually like being captivated all the way through and this didn’t do it for me. Glad I read it though.

i liked the writing of the book because it was very poetic at first, but after a while it got kind of confusing and i forgot what happened when i stopped reading. my biggest problem with this book was that the characters weren’t likeable to me, because i didn’t really get to know know them. the author described their personalities a lot, but failed to truly show them through their actions. also, i didn’t really like the main character.. i thought it was really interesting how she gave away all her stuff, but lockhart didn’t get into depth enough of why she was doing it (a little, but not enough). the aunts were always fighting, but there was no internal conflict, no explanation of their feelings. it was all out of cady’s perspective and she failed to understand anyone else’s emotions but her own.
due to all of this, the ending was not really meaningful. it was obviously shocking and sad, but it seemed very shallow because of the way i perceived the characters.
