Not being familiar with racing, I still enjoyed this introduction Ayrton Senna. He is portrayed as a driven (ha!) but generous racer and teammate.

If you read my reviews, you know by now that I've read a number of these Little People, Big World picture books with my kids. This volume is about Brazilian Formula One racer Ayrton Senna. From the time when Ayrton was a small boy, he loved cars and driving. His parents got him his first go-kart at the age of 4 and from there it is all history. Ayrton went on to be a professional Formula One driver. The illustrations in this book are colorful and appealing and highlight various moments in Ayrton's life. There are additional materials at the end of the book including a timeline and photos.

My 6 year old enjoyed this one a lot since it was about cars and racing. And...Now he wants his own go-kart.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy!

'Ayrton Senna' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Alex G. Griffiths is a biography of a person who liked to drive fast, and who is, tragically, no longer with us.

When he was only four, Ayrton Senna's father gave him a go-kart. There was no looking back. Ayrton liked to go fast and he liked to win. That led him to a career as a Formula One driver. He was also concerned with safety for himself and other drivers.

I'm not a fan of Formula One, so I was not familiar with Ayrton Senna or his accomplishments. As with other books in this series, there is a unique artist for each, and Alex G. Griffiths does a great job illustrating a young boy who liked to go fast.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

There is something icky about a guy, who is said to be from a wealthy family, has at least a black cook (as shown in the book) and is very religious. At least he did charity and kinda cared about safety during races. 3.5/5 (because I did not like the guy)

Another wonderful addition to this series of very short picture book biographies of famous people that we may or may not have heard of.

In this case, since I know nothing about auto racing, I had no idea that this man existed, so it was interesting to see his life and what his passions were.

Not only do we read about his determination, but his work on making racing safer.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

This is the first title of this series I have read and it did not disappoint. A short overview of Senna's life as a racing driver and eventual formula 1 world champion. I am too young to have been aware of Senna's racing in real time, but his races would have most definitely been on in the background while I was in nappies. As I got older I became aware of who he was as a driver as my mam is a big F1 and Ferrari fan.

This book had gorgeous illustrations and got the essence of Senna as a person. I will be making sure to pick it up for my niece's Christmas!
