Listen. You know I think Walter Tevis walks on water. You know I think that everythingWalter Tevis touches is pure gold. You know I believe that Walter Tevis was taken from this Earth far too soon, and that his novels are a glimmering light in this dark, cruel world.
That being said, The Man Who Fell To Earth one was just not my favorite.
There are storytellers and there are wordsmiths - and Walter Tevis happens to be both. This sci-fi story about an alien immigrant who slowly succumbs to inherently Earthly vices just moved a little too slow for me. Great concept, phenomenal potential, but just not a lot of “umph.” This was recently picked up as an HBO series, so I’m interested to see how it will translate to the screen.

definitely a good way to start reading sci-fi books
Keep wondering
It is a short book indeed. Overall, it was interesting and yet conflicting in some ways. Like did humanity took him over or he just gave up? Up to you to decide which is it.

The Man Who Fell To Earth, is a beautifully written science fiction by Walter Tevis. Protagonist Thomas Jerome Newton travels from space to earth to complete an act of research and a project needing help from the best chemists and business men in the USA. However, things are never easy for Newton, due to being from another planet, planet earth amazes him which adds to the suspense of completing his mission.
