The Five Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand

⭐️⭐️ (2/5)

Genre: Women’s Fiction

About 370 pages

After tragically losing her husband, Hollis could use a five-star weekend. So she sets out to create a weekend that will not only feel like a divine five-star experience but will include the five stars of her life. The idea is to invite someone from each phase of her life. So Hollis, her childhood BFF (Tatum), college BFF (Dru-Ann), a close friend from when her daughter was growing up (Brooke), and her new internet friend (Gigi) will spend the weekend at her beautiful Nantucket home. What should be a picture-perfect weekend doesn’t go quite as planned as each woman is dealing with their own problems and one woman in particular is keeping a pretty big secret from Hollis. The Five Star Weekend tells the story of how adult friendships evolve and the good, the bad, and the ugly that can come from a girls' trip 😂

The concept of doing a five-star was fun and cool to me….tbh still is after reading this book. But this book didn’t hit quite the way I wanted it to… I think it may be because all the characters were in their 50s so I just didn’t connect with them. Hilderbrand’s books tend to be hit or miss for me, but I know I will certainly end up reading more of them next summer.

Hoping to squeeze in one more summer read before the sunny weather goes away ☀️

🎧 The Five Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of the summer read and this book was no different. Perfect for the beach, vacation, or just lazy summer days at home. After food blogger Hollis Shaw’s husband dies unexpectedly she decides to host a “Five Star Weekend” at her home on Nantucket. She invites one “star” from each phase of her life. Although she’s thought of every detail to make it the best weekend ever, things don’t exactly go as planned. Hilderbrand writes great characters. Love them or hate them, they will keep you entertained. As always in her books,Nantucket was the  real star of the story. Her books really make me want to visit! This wasn’t my favorite of hers, but it was still great. The perfect summer read.

What a great summer read! Plenty of twists and turns to keep you wanting more and an ending tied everything together. I always love this author’s books.

Another hit for Hilderbrand. I’ve never been to Nantucket, but every time I read one of her books I’m transported there. Great characters, substantial stories, and a happy ending! My only complaint were the multiple pov’s…but even that was easily overlooked the more I read. Great beach read!
