This started as a four but in the second half the drudgery began. Too much explaining through dialogue.

torturously slow, sad read. I keep unknowingly picking up books about WWII. Hitler still sucks

I liked this book, but I felt like it was unbalanced. The first part is very slow moving and then the end felt rushed. I think Alice could have been a really interesting character, but the majority of the story is told around her rather than focusing on her.

This book was simply amazing. Except I do have a lot of unanswered questions.... a sequel perhaps?

Not what I was expecting. Enjoyed it, but the last quarter felt incredibly rushed.

I just found this book to be so boring. I could not get into the storyline. I do really like Lucy Foley’s writing style though. You can tell this is her debut move because her other books are more fully developed in her writing style.

I love Lucy Foley so I was excited to see she had a romance novel. It didn't do it for me, though. I found it to be slow, a little tedious, and nothing like her suspense or thriller books. I'd pass on this one if you love Lucy Foley.

I recently read The Guest List and wanted to discover some of the author’s other works. While I knew this story wasn’t going to be a thriller, I did expect it to be a page-turning experience as the character discovered more about her family’s mysteries. It was not. While descriptive, it was a painfully slow read for me. Disappointing, because the premise of the book sounded promising.

too long, too slow.. maybe if i’d read/listened to it faster it wouldn’t have felt that way.
