By the Book is a cute modern day retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story. The romance developed at a great pace, and the end of the story had me swooning. There is only so much you can do with Beauty and the Beast to make it original, and Jasmine Guillory did a great job with it, adding B&tB Easter eggs all throughout the novel. Overall, I think people will enjoy this novel, as it's exactly what you would imagine when you hear "modern day retelling" of a classic. Loved getting to know Beau and Izzy and getting an inside look at the editorial process. If I was a writer, I’d take her pep talks and turn them into affirmations for my mirror. Almost makes me want to write my own book.

This was so cute! The writing is a little less mature than my usual preference but the story was so adorable. By the Book is one of those books that I think would make such a great Rom Com movie!
