Kinda bored. Not what I thought it was. Might pick it up when I have more time.

Some other reviews were not as positive because the book wasn't focused on literally "how to do nothing." I believe one of the reviews said it was like taking a rambling walk with a hippie friend. LOL. I agree but that was the charm of the book for me. It gave me food for thought about what my life needs to consist of, to respect my values. It's full of anecdotes and examples, and flows like a good conversation. I would read it again.

| Favorite Quote | Our very idea of productivity is premised on the idea of producing something new, whereas we do not tend to see maintenance and care as productive in the same way.

| My Review | I want to make it clear that I absolutely agree with the message of this book, I just did not find my experience reading it enjoyable at all. Skip or skim this book, and spend the rest of your time doing something more fun! Or do nothing, even better!

While I liked the concept of this book, the execution left much to be desired. Odell comes across as wordy and pretentious, spending 256 pages getting across an idea that could be captured in less than half that. I lost count of the levels of irony involved in losing my focus while listening to a book about the attention economy that sets up a plan for avoiding productivity.

Feel free to skip this one.

This didn't really resonate with me. I think my expectations were off about what this book was going to be about.

There were so many long winded tangents that it got boring and confusing, made even worse by the pretentious language.
