This book was not what I expected but I loved it anyway. Not only did it make me think about and perceive the world in a new way, but also it opened up a whole new tract of reading and interests for me around the natural world and bioregionalism, birdwatching, Native culture, Bay Area ecology, and more. I would say this is essential reading for the Burning Man-Fly Ranch set.
