This was just not the book for me. I had this book for ages and I'm not sure why I had it to begin with. I think the subjects were handled really well and respectfully. I just don't really like these types of books.

Gorgeously written, heart-breaking book about a girl struggling with grief and her friend's suicide. I loved the Lake District setting and the owls and how this helps Kite process what's happened.

This book dealt really well with grief and the effect suicide has on those remaining. Kite's grief was expressed really well, but I also appreciated the broader look of grief for the parents, Kite's parents, the teachers, the school and the general community.

I think Kite's family were very well written - active, involved parents just trying to help their daughter, and themselves, through the pain and loss.

I wasn't keen on some of the 'trippier' aspects though, with Kite feeling Dawn's presence because I don't think they were well written or explained.

Also as much as I love Juliet Stevenson's narration, the recording itself was not very good quality and tinny and echoing.
