Please note; my star rating on any book is completely subjective and limited to the label for each star.

1 Star I didn’t like it
2 Stars It was okay
3 Stars I liked it
4 Stars I really liked it
5 Stars It was amazing!

If I do actually have something to say about a book other than what my enjoyment factor was, I will write a review and share my thoughts. If I say I didn’t like a book but there wasn’t anything about it that I thought needed to be shared, then that’s it, I just didn’t like it.

If you’d like to start a discussion about a book or you’d like an actual review, ask any question you like and I’ll be happy to try and comply/respond.

Additional note; I do not feed the trolls. If you don’t have something constructive to say, or if you can’t say it in a respectful way, you won’t get a response from me. Ever.

I think this might be my fav book of the series!

Roxy St. James was an amazing heroine. I loved how sassy she was. Her job sounded so cool. We all know I’d read her books.

We’ve met Alex before and it was fun to get more of his back story. He was pretty dreamy and such a good book boyfriend.

There were quite a bit of side plots. But it didn’t confuse me. They all interested me equally.

But this couple is definitely one of the best!

Series: Nocturne Falls #6
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

Roxy St. James has moved to Nocturne Falls for a fresh start away from her ex-husband. Unfortunately, her ex doesn’t seem to be ready for their relationship to end and has subtly been threatening her. Her handsome deputy neighbor is there to help her though.

As with all of the books in this series, this was another sweet, fun, and light romance set in the amazing town of Nocturne Falls. Roxy is trying to find herself again and finish writing her upcoming release. She doesn’t expect to instantly have the hots for her new neighbor or start to fall for him within a few days. She struggles to deal with her new feelings, the stalker, her new novel, and the possibility she is going crazy because she keeps seeing paranormal things. I liked Roxy but was little disappointed in her reaction to the fact that paranormals exist.

Alex Cruz was a protective alpha shifter who just wants to help Roxy. From the beginning, everything he does is to help her and I really loved that about him. He also doesn’t want to hide the paranormal side of the town from her but he is pressured by Delany to do so. But my absolute favorite thing about Alex was that he read Roxy’s romance novels without any prompting from her. He also references it later when they talk about their own relationship! Swoon!!

Overall, this was another fun and exciting romance for Nocturne Falls. I also love that we get to see previous couples throughout each book. Also everyone in Nocturne Falls is so nice and supportive, I just want to live there.

Trigger Warnings:
- Controlling and verbally abusive marriage (referenced)
- Stalking

Meh. The stalker story was reasonably well handled, and both leads were likable, but too much of the plot depended on them keeping secrets from each other. Ms Painter had been able to avoid that so far in the series, and I hope that this entry is an outlier.

Spoiler Also, I am not a fan of the mental health issue introduced here, or how it was handled.

Another cute one. Great characters. Kind of wanted more with roxy’s supernatural development. Wouldn’t mind a novella about her.

Roxy St. James just got out of a supremely sucky marriage. She is delighted to move to Nocturne Falls where it is Halloween 365 days a year. And moving next door to a hunky cop and his cute (but bum) younger brother. That can only help her get past her writer's block and keep writing her best-selling shifter-romance series.
Officer Alex Cruz is worried. Roxy St. James doesn't seem to be a tap water drinker. As one of the paranormal people who live in the area, that's a problem because the bespelled water is the reason that more humans don't discover that most of the "characters" in town are real. It is also not very helpful that he seems to be attracted to the woman (plus, she speeds!) But when mysterious packages start appearing on her doorstep, he'll do anything to protect her.
