I have read this as part of 'Dracula Daily' a service that emails you snippets of the book happening in "real time": Because the book is written in date-coded works (e.g., diary entries, letters), it works really well. This way it is very slow-paced and builds the suspense and terror so well.

A mix between letters and daily journal entries of our main characters.
I enjoyed the first half of the books which was more focused on the discovery of the existence of vampires and the mystery shrouding Lucy's illness.
However, the second half was less to my liking. It's less about creepy, Paranormal events and more about the planning and hunt of Dracula, which I didn't care about that much.

At the end, I was genuinely excited to see how this would turn out but immensely disappointed by how fast and easily Dracula found his death.
