Meh. This was a mediocre read. It’s about a young woman who grew up in a religious fundamentalist cult, runs away at 18, and goes back for the first time years later as an adult to attend her childhood bestie’s wedding. Turns out the fundamentalist religion she grew up in was Satanism. That was a certainly new spin. She discovers some things about her family history and horror ensues. The character was naive and willfully ignorant to the point of not being believable, which I hate. It’s just lazy writing to carry from one plot point to the next. I’ve heard good things about this author. I think she usually writes horror literature. This wasn’t *bad.* But I was motivated to finish it because I wasn’t super into it and wanted to get to the next book on my library hold list. I might give her another shot. We’ll see.

This felt like Twilight fanfiction that a 13 year old girl wrote. Which is great when it is written by a 13 year old, Bella is the main character, and it's on Fanfiction.net. Less great in this iteration.

Another Rachel Harrison bites the dust! I enjoyed this one more than Cackle, but not more than Such Sharp Teeth and So Thirsty. It was fun, and the
satanic cult twist was an interesting element. I did find her dad being Satan and her needing to be sacrificed as the “ultimate lamb” predictable,
but I overall found it an enjoyable read! Very excited to read her new book once it comes out next month.

I love a campy horror but this was just too cheesy… and where was the horror?
