adventurous dark emotional mysterious sad fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix

now THIS is how you start a series! super simple setting, honestly not even a complex premise, but the delivery is a masterclass in the set up for valuable commentary on humanity and morality. do good morals always have good consequences? what makes an action “good”? how do we amend our mistakes, or at least settle consequences that we didn’t anticipate?

tenma is the gold standard for men i fear. the german setting is so goated too, really masterful noir setting. artwork and aesthetic has the house down BOOOTS and the horrifying nature of a villain that is shown for a total of maybe five panels and one piece of dialogue??? can’t believe i wasn’t on this wave sooner. i prefer manga to anime but i might have to indulge in this one once i finish the series. overall so goated so so so goated

The story was good, but with all these new mangas coming out nowadays I prefer not continue this and just schedule its anime.

My first manga. Very good story and very unexpected. I wasn’t sure what manga was like but now I’d like to read more if they are as good as this.

No tengo idea en este momento de a dónde va a ir la serie. Sabía que era de teorías conspiratorias pero no me imaginaba a Jesus o a ninjas. Aún así, tengo confianza que todo tiene su propósito.

Post-World War II, west Germany, Dusseldorf, Eisler Memorial Hospital, Dr. Tenma, first-class brain surgeon, at his operating table, removing a bullet from the forehead of a kid. Who would know that he would have saved a life of a killer just to become one himself. What a catch!

Good character storytelling and art. It was fun, the pacing was quick and there were so many characters and plot twist after another plot twist that it really left me thinking about the opened ending of the story. The whole thing just needs to settle down in my mind. Dr. Tenma, Johan, Anna, Grimmer, and Lunge are unforgettable characters as many others not mentioned. Worth rereading several times to get a bit more than general view.

Some of the quotes:
***
Tenma: Heckel, put the fire out!!
Heckel: What?
Tenma: The rug!!
Me: No, not the rug!!
***
Nina: That day... Ten years ago... When I shot Johan... I understood why he told me to aim at his head!! Johan... isn't alone!! There are two Johans!!
Tenma: What...?
Me: What??

“Not all people’s lives are equal.”

Masterpiece.
