I really truly loved this book! I listened to it in one sitting after watching the movie the night before and falling in love with it. The book was read by the author, and her delivery of her words was made all the more hilarious, raw, and impactful for it, especially considering that this book is semi-autobiographical. The format made the story move easily; the book is read, as the title suggests, as a series of letters. This hooked me instantly and made me feel like I was directly involved in the story unfolding, a participant, even a friend.
Our main character is amazingly relatable, even while going through situations most people won’t be able to literally relate to. She says and thinks things I find myself thinking all the time, things that it’s easy to feel you’re the only one experiencing. The book left me feeling hopeful and connected to myself and the world around me in a way that I haven’t felt in a long time. I’m so thankful that I got to experience this book, and I’m eager to read more of Suzanne’s story.

"Postcards from the Edge" reads like a mix between fiction and autobiography.

The plot follows a Hollywood actress coming to rehab after an accidental overdose. It's a book full of witty remarks and humorous takes on heavy topics. Still, I liked how realistic it feels (especially having read her memoirs, you can definitely see the overlap between real life and fiction).

Overall, it's a good book and a fast read. It might not be everyone's cup of tea since the style can be so dry and dark. But I think that's what makes the book stand out from the crowd.

Also, there is an audiobook version narrated by Carrie Fisher and it's great. It makes the listening experience much better.
