Very cute, cozy, witchy story. I appreciated that our MC is male, really refreshing in this space. For me, this was perfectly timed between "heavier" series, nice little pallet cleanser to keep things light but interesting.

Cozy, cute, magical and funny! A balm for the soul.

A light-hearted, cosy fantasy romance. I enjoyed most of this, but it was too long. The middle section dragged and could have been condensed. I was disappointed that a few of the big conflict points were put off until a later book, when it could have all been resolved in this volume.
The humour was very slapstick, which was amusing to start with, but it began relying on drunken antics and jokes about names and preferences, which didn't really align to the seriousness of the international politics being played out.
I enjoyed the food descriptions and the worldbuilding, but that's not enough to keep me reading the next book in the series.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

I liked the magic and wanted a bit more lore, but I was 25% of the way, had found nothing funny and was overall just bored. This book needs more editing to cut down repetitive sentences and sentence structures and overall is far far too long for what it is.

I’d also like actual recipes/ingredients with a cook MMC especially when every reaction from the other characters is “they smelled something so delicious they got distracted”. Yeah, ok, but what about it is distracting?
