Fun, sweet and magical. A bit slow, not much happens, and yet a lot passes. Lovable characters and fun worldbuilding. At some point we lose sight of Kraken, I wonder what happened to him.

Hilarious and gently sweet. An amazing balm to escape the horrors of the world for a while. Great for listening to on my runs. The audiobook narrator 10/10!!

fin shoulda been bisexual it would have made significant portions of this book less weird

i had fun but it was in spite of everything more than because of everything. some of the sins include abundant gay jokes even after a shallow therapyspeak gay is okay scene, often klutzy prose with malapropisms everywhere, little chemistry in the main romantic pairing, and characters crying from laughter over jokes that deserved a smile at best. still, there are plenty of interesting relationships (the kitchen staff <3) and i'm always a sucker for a character who keeps the extent of their power hidden.
