Beautiful story
I really enjoyed this book. Two broken characters finding each other and facing their traumas. It is so well written, you are rooting for the main characters all the way through, and there's a great cast of secondary characters too. I went straight from this to the author's other books.

I've never read an Elizabeth Miller book before, but when I found out Sound of Silence had a baby AND a Navy Seal in it I HAD to give it a go. It started off VERY promising, but about 30% in I started the process of skimming throughout the rest of it. Mostly when the two main characters weren't together. I really liked the characters and Piper and Caden's chemistry. It was cute whenever they said they "liked" each other. I didn't like that Caden kept running and hurt Piper's feelings. I would this author's work again.
This is the first book I have read from this author and absolutely fell in love with her writing. I couldn't get enough of this book, the story pulled me in and didn't let go until the end. The relationship between Caden and Piper was fun, sexy and full of so much emotion you can't help but fall in love with them. I will definitely be reading more books by Elizabeth Miller!
I started this book and then literally couldn't put it down. the sorrow of the loss of a husband, closest friend and a missing father are all brought together in this book. You flow between feelings of tragedy for two people , excitement with an addition to the widow and the mystery of a act of treason that your not sure who is innocent or guilty. This brought tears to my eyes and happy moments too.
This book was perfect! Only thing I didn't like about it was the GD word being used so much. I love how in the beginning of the story when Caden first goes to Lillyfalls he is so honest while talking to Piper. It's refreshing to read such honesty. I enjoyed that there was also the side story about Caden's father as well. I would enjoy reading a book about Pipers life pre Caden when she leaves her parents and meets Justin. The intimate scenes in the book were very well written as well. In most books they are redundant and have the same scenarios. The sex scenes in this story were different and better in my opinion. They were a nice addition to the story. I can't wait to read more by this Author!
I know that some of you like to skip right to the story, and I used to be one of you, but you need to take the time to read the note that this author has written. It’s a great way to start your love of this book. The story is written in parts. It’s something that will help you if you need to find a good place to stop. Most of us are visual people and because we have no “screen” to see this story unfold, we rely on the author’s words in order to paint those pictures. And Ms. Miller does a great job here.
Caden Lawless has a tough job ahead of him. On top of that he’s fighting some personal demons. He is a testament to those that suffer in silence – sometimes you just have to let it out. Piper Stevens has emotions that are all over the place but sadness is the strongest. Can two people that are both suffering a loss come together? This is the point where I found it hard to stop when other things needed my attention.
If you have a chance, you may want to start with the novella titled Lawless. This book starts the reader’s introduction to Caden. And it’s only 69 pages so it won’t take you long to read it and then you can start your enjoyment of this one.
If you are going through some grief of your own, this book may be a little hard to read. But it can also help. It’s a great distraction. The story is not all about sadness. We have the cute factor of a new baby, we have a little intrigue when Caden’s job sneaks into his time with Piper, and we have a front row seat as two people go from hate, to friends, and then to something more. The ending fit the story perfectly and the author gives us a treat by giving us a little sneak peek into her next book – can’t wait.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
