This was a good story but I think I would have rated it higher if “he is bad” wasn’t a constant refrain throughout the entire book. For me, it just made me frustrated to read/hear over and over again.

Better When He's Bad is dark and gritty, and while Bax and Dovie grew up in similar situations, one has managed to hold on to hope and loyalty, while the other thinks a life of crime is the only way to go.

5+ stars!!!

Oh man..I have no words...

I put this book off because I was REALLY hesitant to read it. I thought that it could fall short or not live up to the perfection that is the Marked Men series. Oh boy.... This book DID NOT fall short at all!!! I can't decide if I love it more than my Marked Men and that's crazy! Since those books are REALLY up there in my favourites!

I love the character of Dovie Pryce. She was a greatly strong character. Ms. Crownover has a way of creating female characters that a reader can instantly relate to her even if the circumstances aren't the same. Dovie had endured so much and she kept overcoming situations that tested her strength. I loved her so much!

Shane Baxter was yet another complex male character that Jay Crownover built so well. As a reader, I could actually see his growth as a person and it was believable. Some authors just throw random character growth and I would have no idea where it came from but not Jay Crownover! He still has much growth to do and what I like about it is he knows he'll never be working a 9-to-5 job and be a model citizen.

Jay Crownover...you hit it out of the ball park with this one and I can't believe I waited so long to read it!! I hope I fall in love with Race as I fell in love with Bax and the Marked Men.

Now Bax is the definition of a bad man!! Love every bit of this book. I love the dark, twisted crap that can happen on the mean streets and Jay has captured that! Amazing read.

Bax. Just Bax.

I devoured this book. I literally soaked it all in and was left without coherent thoughts.

Was the writing an excellent form of literature? No. Was I entertained? Ummmmm YES!

Bax.
