I love both them so much. Their chemistry is incredible and the way they understand each other is adorable.

this is what i want from romance books.

4.5⭐️

ahhh this book!! it was so cute and sweet. i absolutely fell in love with the author’s writing.

can we all take a minute and appreciate charlie? we must protect this cute little bean. i wish i could’ve give him a hug so many times through the book. and dev, god let’s not forget my sweet boy dev. they both were so amazing!!

“Kissing charlie is like all the pieces of himself coming together, confident and sure. Kissing Charlie is like the scene at the end of the movie, and it’s nothing like the scene at the end of the movie, and he wants to spend the rest of his life telling Charlie what he needs and being what Charlie needs. “I love you, Charlie. All of you”

“I love you so much right now, I can’t imagine ever not loving you. And it’s okay if you don’t love me back yet. I can love enough for the both of us. Just please stop pulling away.”

this broke my heart but in a good way.

i love that we got more representation!! and also talking about serious topics like mental health was so well handled by the author. i could see myself in both charlie and dev.

A refreshing read that highlights the LGBT+ community and sheds light on mental illness, giving a sense of normality in places it isn't yet normalised.

Often very predictable and plot points fell together a bit too easy, but easy to overlook for an enjoyable read

If you've always wanted a queer version of the Bachelor, this might be for you.
The most recent season of a fairy tale themed version features a Charlie, a programmer who was fired from his own company after
a vote of no confidence following a panic attack in a board meeting. It goes public and he can't get a job in his sector.
He goes on the show hoping to rehabilitate his public reputation enough to get another job, with no expectation or really desire to fall in love. He's neurodiverse and struggling with his mental health and social awkwardness. Dev, a very tall, Indian, gay man with a penchant for cargo shorts who always seems to have something on his face, is assigned as his handler 24/7 when his anxiety and awkwardness impacts filming.  Dev slowly lures him out of his shell through "practice dates" mostly involving sci-fi and puzzles. He figures out his triggers and advocates for him with the other producers and supports him through his panic attacks. It quickly becomes obvious that Charlie is much more interested in Dev than any of the women, but he's signed a contract and that is not the kind of love story the show is based around.

It's very queer and mental health inclusive. The author's writing is funny and relatable with a lot of comfort and sweetness, and it doesn't fall into the trope where falling in love magically fixes all their mental health struggles. The characters are gloriously imperfect and lovable just as they are

ND/MH representation includes
severe anxiety and panic disorder with panic attacks, OCD, depression (May be coded bipolar 2 with periods of insomnia and productivity before depressive crashes, but it's just referred to as periods of depression). The lead reads as autistic coded to me with social struggles and certain stims used as grounding. Both therapy and medication is discussed for multiple characters

LGBTQIA+ representation includes gay, bi, pan, lesbian, and a questioning asexual spectrum/demi/gray

it was cute, it was fun! I did think the actual show part went on a bit long (this also reminded me of a larry fanfic oops)
