This is my first book by Megan Frampton and I enjoyed it. It was a fun, quick and engaging read. It's an easy to read book with lovely characters. I adored Lavinia's outspoken and honest personality and how Thaddeus valued those traits as an important attributes. I also loved how Lavinia and Thaddeus fell in love and the way both of them demonstrated in their own way.

P.S. Who doesn't love a man with beautiful thighs? LOL

I think I was in the exact perfect mood for this book. I started reading it as soon as I got my hands on it and could not put it down. I found it a humorous all around delight. This is the third in a series. I read the first book in the series earlier this year but the second one only came out this week and I’ve not had the opportunity to read it. This book absolutely works as a standalone but a few plot points from first two will be spoiled if read out of order.

I loved both Lavinia and Thaddeus. They gave me Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth vibes with their whole I’m strangely attracted to this person I’m not really supposed to like thing. Both characters were well written and humorous in their own way. I loved that while the pair had opposite personalities, they had similarities, like their list making, that made it clear to me as a reader that these were two compatible people.

In addition to the main couple, I really liked the side characters. Each person we were introduced to was fully developed. It was clear that as she was writing Megan knew exactly who each person was from the servants to the family members to the servants’ family members. I really really really want a queer romance novella for Lavinia’s brother Percy.

My only complaint is that the book kept me up way too late on a work night. But that is a minor thing compared to the overall amusement and joy I had while reading.

Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Megan Frampton's A Wicked Bargain for the Duke is the third book in her Hazards of Dukes series - all of which are wonderful, and this one is no exception. Thad had no expectations of ever being a duke, but now that he is he plans to run it with the same military efficiency he's known for. To that end, he makes a list of attributes he must have in a duchess, and somehow finds them all at his first social event. Lady Jane is perfect - except for her pesky sister, Lavinia, who is too loud, too opinionated, and far too sensual to ever be his duchess. Until, that is, they are caught in a compromising position and forced to wed. He proposes a bargain: they produce an heir, then they can lead separate lives. Lavinia agrees, but decides that if they're going to be intimate, she'd better enjoy it!

This book is so good for so many reasons. Frampton is so aware of the power dynamics and is so careful with them - Thad is constantly aware that Lavinia is at a disadvantage in their relationship, and tries to even their footing however he can. Lavinia is determined to make the best of her situation, and is fiercely loyal.

SPOILERS!!!
SpoilerOne thing that really stood out to me while reading: Lavinia is secretly a romance author, and her books are gaining wild popularity. Her half-brother is pretending to be the author at signings and events, but all the work is Lavinia's. During a reading at their home, Thaddeus realizes that Lavinia is the true author of the novels, and this is the "low point" for the novel, as he is livid. However, what really stuck out to me is the reason for his ire - he isn't upset that she has this secret, he's upset that she didn't trust him enough to share what he realizes is an essential part of herself with him. It's so sweet and heartbreaking all at once, proving that Frampton is a master.

Overall, this is a wonderful book, and I can't wait to see what she writes next!!

** Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review **

Lavinia is an author, although no one knows it’s her writing the books because she knows male authors are much more socially accepted, so her brother gets the credit publicly and she gets the credit financially. She is very independent, loyal, and not afraid to speak her mind, which is what I loved about her.

Thaddeus ha just become a Duke unexpectedly and now is in search of a wife that will fulfill his needs in the bedroom as well as other domestic duties. He is regimented, (thinks) he knows what he wants, and will do anything so that the dukedom doesn’t suffer.

These two could not be more opposite, but they work so well together! I was surprised at how they came together, but for the time period they are in, that was how it happened sometimes. Once under the same roof, I was excited to see their relationship develop and while I could have used more steam in the first half of the book, the second book was fantastic!

I really liked how Thaddeus defended Lavinia against people who had been putting her second her whole life and how her was willing to take suggestions from his new wife without being a total jerk about it. This made it a fun read and a definite page-turner!

If you want a book that has Bridgerton vibes and just delightful - this is your book.

Tropes:
• Sister saves "shy-loves-someone-else" younger sister from marrying the Hero
• Marriage of Convenience
• Heroine Secret Published Author
• Interstitials of Heroine's Work
• Grumpy, Grunts, & Groveling by Hero
• Hero doesn't know how to love
• Spoon Scenes by both Hero and Heroine (it's a trope now)

A lot of the sex happens off-page initially and then appears on the page towards the end.

Overall, just a delightful read.

Thanks to Avon and Netgalley for the ARC.

I didn’t like the ending at all, it was too cheesy for me. I understand that it was a reference to the books that Lavinia writes but it still made an otherwise great book end on a bad note for me.

Megan Frampton's writing just gets better and better in this series! I've been enjoying this series and we have made it to Thaddeus' story. I was really hoping for Olivia's own novel (Ivy's sister) but hopefully she will appear later in the series!

My quick take aways from the story: I loved the characters, laugh out loud moments, dysfunctional families, when the communication is clear and blunt. Some of the romance is a bit behind closed doors and there is some hurtful/ignorant behavior.

Thaddeus quits his military career to take over a Dukedom. He makes a list of what needs to be done first and find a wife is near the top of the list. Forcing himself out into society to a book reading, he meets sisters Jane and Lavinia. He has an instant attraction to the hilarious Lavinia but it is the quiet Lady Jane he thinks will make a perfect Duchess.

Lavinia will do anything to protect her sister, who is in love with someone else. It is hilarious how Lavinia inserts herself into the Duke's courting of her sister. I loved her thought process and how she tries to overcome certain obstacles.

And that is just how the story starts!

Thank you to #Netgalley and #Avon for the early read. The opinions are my own.
