By far my favorite of the series. This is the first couple, except for mmaaybbbee John and Rosa, that I really felt like the two main characters actually liked each other for their personalities, and I liked the respect and more equal footing the relationship was on. Simon and Marie were just too much dom/sub for me, so this was a nice change of pace.

Her body is hot-for-monster, her mind is not.

She repeatedly makes really good arguments as to why she should have nothing to do with this orc-guy and be horrified by... everything. She's not torn. She's not conflicted. And yet at the slightest provocation, her brain switches off, and they're having smex.

The heroine overcomes her initial deep-seated prejudices against orcs because he brought her a plant. She likes plants. This makes up for the fact that he broke into her house, terrified her, lied to her, tricked her, and was a creepy, pushy, a-hole.
