The writing is ... I did a better job in middle school. We can pretend it's a stylistic difference between American writing and Indian writing, but really, getting through the book was an exercise in tongue-biting. The movie was much better. Maybe Bhagat should stick to screen plays.

All the stars for the concept and realistic issues addresed for intercaster inter state maariages. The writer has very plain style though. Seems like a movie stry intead of a book.

Two lovers, not the best romantic story in my view but I guess this wasn't crap. Good one but at some places lacks the quality. Reading his books gives you a feel like you are actually reading a film's script. And that's what degrades the book. The book is written in such a manner that a film can be adapted. And that's what happened. A film 2 States starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt was released!
The view of Chetan is to earn money from both the sides, i.e. from publishing and selling plus from the films as well.

This book pretty much involves love and affection. No rubbish English used and no unwanted sex to make the chapters lengthy. And this is the only book without them. So I gave 4 stars for this book.

Good One.... Wants everyone love life has ends like that......

loved it

I was looking forward to reading this book because of the reviews and enthusiasm surrounding it. And I was disappointed. Personally, I found the book had several drawbacks such as over generalizations, unnecessary points and poor writing. I found it impossible to be immersed in the story and several times found my eyes just glazing over paragraphs. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone.

Bruh..... What is this? I should not have read this. I should not have read this.

AN enjoyable read. Probably the best by Chetan Bhagat.
