Phenomenal, simply phenomenal.
There’s truly so much goodness to analyze with this one, formal review to come but I’ll leave you with this in the meantime—
This is easily one of greatest stand-alone novels I’ve had to the privilege of (ARC) reading in quite some time, it’s one powerful read in so many aspects and I can’t wait to share my signature Final Verdict on this one

Who knew a Red Riding Hood retelling could be so compelling?! Rowan Cleary grows from a timid maiden to an absolute BAMF, reclaiming her power and allowing herself to take up space in the world without feeling guilty for it.

I absolutely adored this book and love that it’s a standalone.

I am thankful to be able to have been provided an eARC for this book. I don’t really like giving out stars anymore for ratings and have moved towards just general ~vibes~ at this point. This book was an easy read, which was great! I was excited for a stand alone as we come into spooky season but overall this felt flat to me in the spooky department. I wanted feminine rage as advertised, but the amount we got didn’t fill my cups. I wish there was just more. Rowan and the wolf were interesting characters and I think could have used a little more time to really deepened the relationship. A side character Cade was interesting and I really liked him, but again I just wish there was more time spent on developing him. The world was fun but I think I’ve moved away from virgin/sacrifice vibes as a reader.

All in all I think there are very enjoyable aspects and tantalizing ideas that people will love, it just wasn’t a hooked read for me.

Sorry guys but I DNF @41%...

I'm sure a lot of people find this book interesting and honestly I thought I'll like this book as welll but it's a bit boring...

I usually go for books that I can't wait to get home and read, I want to stay up and read I don't want to do anything but read kinda book. And this book was not it. I actually prefer to sit there stare at the wall than pick up the book.

I didn't really feel any connection to anyone in the book at all. I feel like I've learned what type of person Rowan is and through half way of the book I should be connected but nope. I feel nothing.

Sorry!

full review hopefully coming soon both here and on insta, until then i'll be just screaming overwhelmed about how good everything about this book was!!

if you are looking for a fantasy read, filled with magic, the struggle to forge your own path, romance and the pains religious fanaticism can bring upon innocents... well: what are you waiting for? keep the wolf happy and start reading this beautiful retelling of little red riding hood (with hades/persephone vibes) ♡

What a wonderful standalone book by Sheila. I loved this retelling of Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. I feel in love with Rowan’s and the Wolf story and how they grow in to find how they are stronger together than they are apart. This book is filled with spice, especially in one of my favorite locations. THE LIBRARY. Thank you Sheila for sharing and allowing me to ARC SOTDW. You are such a wonderful author, and I can’t wait to read more of your works.
