Did y'all know that Aldi sells books? Because I didn't until just like two days ago.

For a $10 book, this was great. Fun premise, cute banter. HOWEVER - I just don't see how the main characters end up together based on what happens towards the end of the book. I'd definitely try another one of Christina Lauren's books tho.

I first read this one back in 2021 and could not get enough of it! I'd been in a pretty big reading slump for months, and this was just the ticket I needed to break out of it. I'm glad to say that upon reading it a second time, it still holds up!

I loved the juxtaposition of Olive and Ami's "luck" and how it affected Olive's outlook on life. I can imagine being the "unlucky" twin and how that would make life in general seem pretty unfair by comparison. Not going to lie, I probably wouldn't have hesitated to take the trip if I'd been in Olive's shoes! Ethan and Olive were a fun enemies to lovers pairing, and watching their snarky back and forth was entertaining. I liked that they didn't fall prey to the trap of instalove and were able to slowly acclimate to each other and develop feelings.

The setting of the story was so beautifully described, and it made me want to book a trip to Hawaii ASAP!

It was extremely frustrating to watch Olive have to defend the secrets she discovered strictly because of her more pessimistic tendencies. It was sad knowing that the people close to her truly considered her to be that deeply bitter, but the groveling/vindication that took place afterward was excellent.

That twist, man...Definitely well done and surprising.

Still one of my top CL books! Read if you like: enemies to lovers, guy falls first, tropic getaways, avoiding buffets, twin shenanigans, and winning contests/getting free things!

Not the best book I’ve read but not the worst. Easy read but fairly predictable plot.
